Nine of Wands – The Nine of wands symbolizes hope even in the face of adversity. Although there have already been many trials and challenges and they will continue for a while, we collectively do have the strength to ultimately overcome them. There is an air of mistrust associated with this card, and we see that this is very prominent now but soon, we will be shown a much clearer picture of what we have really been dealing with and what is to come next. Despite so much fear right now, we are encouraged to stand strong and could be surprised at the outcome if we do make a move that is considered risky.
King of Pentacles – This King wants us to know that we are headed into a more prosperous time and that we need to have faith that we are protected and provided for in the here and now. The best thing we can do is to stay in control of our emotions and fears and look at the bigger picture. He encourages us to stay true to ourselves even amidst criticism from others.
King of Wands – This King represents pure energy. He wants us to take an idea that we currently have and run with it. He encourages us to take a leadership role and stick with our goals until we make them reality. There will of course be challenges but we must keep moving forward and remain on the path we have chosen, and we will over come them. There will no doubt be moments of exhaustion, but this is a time of great focus and perseverance and actions taken now, can bring great reward in the future.
The most used chart for Canada is set at Midnight, July 1st, 1867, which is the one I am using for October transits.
During October the transiting Ascendant is square natal Saturn so while the general populace is trying hard to get back to ‘normal’, Saturn wants to change that normal into something it sees as more worthwhile and beneficial to us. We are very much feeling a push me pull you energy for the entire month. Since the Ascendant is in Aries on the 1st house cusp, the injustices are causing anger on both sides of the fence. The secret though is to not be put off by any setbacks. Saturn is telling us that eventually it will get easier.
At the same time, Uranus is not a fan of the status quo and is determined to shake us up as a country. The ascendant is quite concerned with personal freedom and the more extreme things get, the more we strive for that independence. Uranus is the planet of change, and we may see them happening at a very fast pace this month, usually coming out of left field and knocking us sideways for a while. We may collectively and personally, see many of our views and opinions change in some ways this month. There will be a sense of instability and impermanence which will be unsettling, causing many of us to act unpredictably as well.
Transiting Venus means there will be many relationship difficulties this month too. This applies to all kinds of relationships, and you may find that if someone tries to hold you back or even challenges your opinions too much, you will walk away. This seems to be a time when people realize that they need to be true to themselves, rather than compromising their values and beliefs. There can be lots of hurt feelings. However, if we are interacting with people who share our perceptions, it will be easy to have polite conversation.
Mercury (retrograde until October 18th) governs communication and is keeping us all busy this month. We will be very focused on our own point of view, and it is important to allow others’ their own. It seems that there will be many conversations surrounding the situation we are currently in.
Mars is in Libra until October 30th. Mars is the planet of anger and action, and Libra is a little too peace loving for Mars’ liking. This will cause some tensions and with transiting Mars Squaring Canada’s natal mars, it will put our instincts into survival mode. Injuries and accidents are more likely for the rest of the month because of this and the ‘fighting spirit’ most of us are feeling. Overconfidence could also be a problem, leading to having to back track. Try to think before speaking or acting.
